Good news for women and for senior citizens travelling in Mumbai’s BEST buses. Every BEST bus has reserved seats for women and for senior citizens. The transport undertaking has planned to increase the number of reserved seats for both women and for senior citizens in Mumbai’s buses with effect from August 1’ 2010.
The extra reserved seats will be for the regular buses, the double decker buses and the AC buses that ply in Mumbai. Women will now have 8 reserved seats and senior citizens will have 3 reserved seats in double decker buses. Women will get 6 reserved seats in AC buses and senior citizens will get 4 seats reserved for them.
Quary that could not be found for AC BUSES on your whole network. I am a Senior Citizen I travel on bus No.AS700 from Thane east to Borivali east or AS458 from Mulund check naka to Borivali west and vicervecer.
I board these buses at the schedule bus stop at Majiwada(THANE).
On 17-11-2011 I boarded AC bus at Majivada, and requested a young man to vicate a Sioner Citizen seat but he refused, saying “Sinor Citizen’s must only board at the stating point, and cannot ask for this seat on any other bus stop enroute, saying there is no rule by BEST for him to vicate the seat”.Even the bus Conductor could not get him to vicate the seat.
I am 73 years old my request as a Sinor Citizen to supply me with the rules,so that I may get it printed and use it the next time.
Why does the BEST reserve seats for women. It is against the constitution.
kindly specify the location of the seats that have been reserved for women in BEST buses in single and double decker buses, as the freshly increased reserved seats are yet to be marked as “ladies” in many of the buses. The conductor many a times shows ignorance as it happened today with me. According, to the conductor of route no.310 which started from kurla station at around 9.05am, the two seater located just after the three seater ladies seat on the lower deck of a double decker is not reserved for ladies. Hence, as per his statement only 08 seats are reserved for ladies and not ten as mentioned by you.
senior citizen seats in Best are on paper, practically, if you go on survey, you will find at the beging only most of seat are occupied by youngers or ladies, for senior citizen it is diffcult task, to get seat, particular at this age they can not go on arguments, they stand helpless, as conductor are to busy in rush to co-operate, best solution you may reduce no of seats but let seat to be vacant for senior citizen , no other than senior citizen should allow to sit, if any non senior citizen , occupy seat shuould fined ?
