Mount Abu, Rajasthan definitely doesn’t qualify to be a Mumbai getaway, but if you plan your trip accordingly, it could be an extended weekend holiday. People have misconceptions that Rajasthan is very far from Mumbai, but if you have an extended weekend and would want to try something new – Mount Abu is the place to go.
Mount Abu is the only hill station and is the highest peak in Rajasthan. A 2 night – 3 day package is the ideal time frame you need to spend in Mount Abu. Of course, if you have time on hand, you could extend your holiday but a 2 night package is what most hotels would offer you.
Hotels in Mount Abu
There are three types of hotels in Mount Abu – Firstly The heritage hotels, which don’t have a lot of rooms, basically the Maharaja places that have been converted into hotels. Secondly the deluxe hotels, which don’t have the heritage touch but are luxury hotels and lastly the budget hotels where you can stay without a pinch in your pocket.
Honestly, the heritage hotels are not very expensive, and these hotels include Jaipur palace, Connaught house, Bikaner Palace, Hotel Hillock,Hhotel Hiltone, Palanpur palace amongst others. A 2 night package at jaipur house in the month of August could costs you approx Rs 8500/- inclusive of taxes, breakfast and dinner.
The deluxe hotels include hotels like Lake palace, Sunrise palace, Yorshire Inn and roughly fall in the price range of Rs 1500 – Rs 3000 per night.
How to reach Mount Abu from Mumbai?
By Air: – The nearest Airport is Udaipur Airport, 185 Km from Mount Abu. Ahmedabad is the second closest airport at approx 220 kms away from Abu. You can get direct flights to Ahmedabad from all major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatta, Chennai
By Train:. Abu Rd is the closest railway station, at 30 km away from Mount Abu, and you have many trains reaching Mount Abu. From Mumbai, you can train Aravali Express (Train number 9707) from Bandra terminus. Aravali express leaves BDTS at 9 in the night and reaches Mount Abu next morning at 10am.
The second train that leaves Mumbai is Jodhpur Express (Train number 9065) which leaves BDTS at 11:25 in the night and reaches Mount Abu at 12:10 the next afternoon.
By Road: It is not advisable to travel to Mount Abu from Mumbai by road.
