Mumbai city is famous for its Vada Pav and cutting chai (Regular chai, not the masala chai). The average mumbaikar has a lot of cups a day but in small quantities, hence cutting chai, which means half cup tea. Cutting chai till now meant 100ml tea and was available at all railway stations for Rs 2 but now the size of the cup will get bigger. IRCTC has decided to standardize the cost of cutting chai to Rs 3 for 150ml and for coffee at Rs 5 per 150ml.
There were many stall owners who until now were not serving the 100ml that they were charging for. Many commuters complained that the stall owners were only giving about 60 – 70ml and were charging regular Rs 2 for 100ml.
IRCTC has a helpline number for commuters who can register complaints against these people. The helpline is 1800 – 111 – 139.
