With the Mumbai heat, its a little difficult travelling in the traditional Yellow Black cabs – though most people prefer them still because they are always available and are much cheaper on the pocket. But, slowly a lot of people are preferring the Meru Cabs (The AC taxi service in Mumbai).

You can book them online, or over the phone. Say you have an early morning flight and need to reach the airport at 5am. You dont want to go hunting for a yellow black cab in the middle of the night, so before you sleep, book a Meru Cab and they will be at your doorstep at the given time. How simple is that?

You can either book the Meru Cab over the phone (022 – 4422 4422) or you can book them online. They are not very expensive as compared with the traditional taxi’s.

The fare structure is as follows: First Flag down fare (First KM) : Rs 20/- Every subsequent KM: Rs 14/- A surcharge of 25% is levied as night charge if you travel between 12am and 5am. So the next time you need to catch an early morning flight, or you go for a late night party and know you’re going to drink, always book a Meru in advance.

Update:24th Sept ‘ 2010:

The fares for the Meru cab service has been revised. The first KM will be charged Rs 22/- (as opposed to the Rs 20/- earlier) and every subsequent KM will be charged Rs 15/- (as opposed to rs 14/- earlier).
