So you’re planning to go to Kodaikanal from Mumbai. Lets say you have 2 options, either reach there by flight, or take the train (which is cheaper, and takes very long). If you’re on a budget I’d suggest you take the train, as the flight could turn out to be very expensive if not booked early. I dont think there are a lot of trains that will take you to kodaikanal from Mumbai, but the one you’re looking for is Nagarcoil express (6339). The Nagarcoil express starts from Mumbai CST and goes right upto Nagarcoil, TamilNadu. You can book your ticket from Mumbai CST upto Kodaikanal Road, and from there, the main Kodaikanal hill station is a 2 hour drive. You can either speak to your hotel and ask them to arrange for a taxi (which I recommend) or you can get down at Kodaikanal road station and hunt for a taxi. Its advisable that you ask your hotel to arrange because your train will reach Kodaikanal road at about 8:30pm, and its a good bet that you have your taxi ready, especially if you are travelling with your family. The nagarcoil express starts from Mumbai CST at approx 12:20pm and reaches Kodaikanal road the next day at 8:30pm, so yes, it does take you roughly 2 days in the train.
