The Regional Passport Office, Mumbai is one of the oldest offices functioning since 1954. It is subordinate office of the Ministry of External Affairs under the supervision of the Joint Secretary (CPV), who functions as Chief Passport Officer, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, NewDelhi. Earlier it was the Central Passport & Emigration Organization subsequently it was named as Central Passport Organization.

The documents that are required for renewing your passport are:
Original old passport
Original ration card
Original electricity bill (If the bill is in your name)
Original land line bill / Mobile bill
Marriage certificate (thats coz I wanted my wife’s name on my passport)
You will have to submit your originals, which will be returned to you within a week.
