So either you’re applying for a new passport, or your passport has expired and you want to renew your passport!
My passport expired recently and it was a breeze applying for a new passport. I could have gone through the entire process myself, but I chose to go through an authorized agent, who filled in my application and did all the paperwork for me.
The official fee for renewing your passport is Rs 1000/- and the agent charged me Rs 1700/-, 700/- being his commission for doing the work for me. I am not disclosing the agent that I went through, but in case someone needs his number, I can provide the same.
The documents that were required for renewing my passport were:

Original old passport

Original ration card

Original electricity bill (If the bill is in your name)

Original land line bill / Mobile bill

Marriage certificate (thats coz I wanted my wife’s name on my passport)
