With the recent hike in CNG prices, the auto unions were demanding a steep hike in their fares. The base fare for the first 1.6km was Rs 9/- and the union wanted to increase this fare to Rs 15/-.

The govt however have not increased the fare so much but Mumbaikars will now have to pay Rs 11/- as the base fare for the next auto ride they take. The fares are now at par with the fares of the autos plying in Thane / Vashi area.

The taxi’s union also wanted a hike in their base fares. Their base fares have been increased from Rs 14/- to Rs 16/- for the first 1.6Km. The cool cabs fares have also been increased from Rs 17.50/- to Rs 20/- for the first 1.6Km.
