Motormen of both Central and Western railway observed hunger strike on 3rd May 2010, to press for their demands of rise in pay scales and allowances.
For over two days, the Western and Central Railways motormen held the city to ransom with their demands for a salary hike. Considering their hunger strike, one would assume that the motormen would be underpaid and they would be living in difficult conditions.
However the truth is far different. The average motorman’s salary is approx Rs 36,500 /- which is far more than the average salary of an engineer, doctor or a MBA. To top this, they get paid a hefty amount for doing overtime.
The motormen have ended their strike and the Govt has promised to resolve the matter by the 15th of June. Lets wait and watch to see what more the average motorman will take home..

The motormen feel they are underpaid because, maybe they are comparing themselves to all the Corporate guys who earn big bucks (or maybe they are comparing themselves with the Crorepathi ministers, pun intended).
Lets all be in gratitude for what we earn to get more more in money into our lives, rather than striking and holding others to ransom.
