Mumbai Film City is also known as Bollywood, the name inspired from Hollywood. Film city was created as early as the year 1911 show casing India’s first silent feature film. Film city is second to the famous Hollywood in Los Angeles, United States of America (USA).The Film City has pioneered the whole concept of Hindi film making in India.
Dadasaheb Phalke was the first film maker of Bollywood shooting in Film City of Bombay with his first film, ‘Raja Harishchandra’ and since then everything is just History with all new techniques and equipments, softwares etc.
Slowly, the films being produced in India have started to catch up with the technology used in Hollywood – large sets, artificial lakes, gardens, grounds for fighting are made in film city. There are so many people all over the country who dream about just being a part of the film industry. Some dreams come true and some just crack down in between the competition that is so fierce in Bollywood. The influence of Film City on the Indian psyche is so great that today the popular film stars are worshipped and have a whopping fan following from all over the world.
The Film City is open to visitors/tourists, but a prior permission is needed. If you know some one directly or indirectly related to the industry, your getting inside becomes easy.
How to Reach Mumbai Film City?
The Mumbai Film City is situated in Goregaon (East), Mumbai. You can get off at Goregaon station (western line) and take a bus, taxi or auto towards Film city.
