The Kamla Nehru park is one of the most popular parks in south Mumbai. It is situated on Malabar hill and was opened in the year 1952. It is spread across 4000 square yards and has a beautiful view of marine drive, the queens necklace.
Its name owes to Kamala Nehru, the wife of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The highlight of this park is the giant shoe (old womans shoe) which is popular amongst the children. Another amazing sight is the dome shaped summerhouse which can also be used as a bandstand. There are beautiful flowerbeds and huge lawns.
As it is situated on a height above mean sea level it is quite cool here but there is no difference experienced in summers.
