To actually name seasons in Mumbai you can say that there are 3 seasons in Mumbai – Summer, Monsoon, Winter. But in reality there is only one season and that is SUMMER. Its actually very hot throughout the year, quite obvious as Mumbai is a coastal city so the temperatures soar up to almost 35 degrees. The best time to visit Mumbai is between November and March when it is pleasant, at times it becomes very cold. The temperature stoops down to almost 12-15 degrees.
It gets very windy in the monsoons. There are traffic jams during the Monsoons and many suburbs/areas are flooded like the Milan subway, Lalbaug etc. The month of October has become a season by it self. It becomes very hot in October sometimes more than what you find in summer.
Summer – April to June
Monsoon – June to September
Winter – November – March
The current weather in Mumbai:
Sir, These days, because of the very cold weather over Mumbai and more particularly at Borivli(East) where I live by the side of the Borivli National Park, one is always eager to know the minimum temperature at about 5am in the morning when walkers enter the park for their constitutional morning walk/exercise. While discussing the cold of the moment, we generally say that it might be in single digit temperature, we are unable to say how much until we see the weather chart in the next days morning papers. We believe that the Park temperature is about 4 to 5 degrees Celcius below the SCZ minimum for the day. It would be useful if the days minimum temperature is always displayed along with the current temperature. Also, since the temperatures between COLABA and SCZ have significant variations during winter, Both the temperatures should be displayed for current as well as the days minimum temperatures, for both stations. Will appreciate if this suggestion could be considered actively. Many thanks. S. Venkataraman.(74yrs). (9619191308).
