Have you ever wanted to reach your destination urgently and couldn’t because the rickshaw or taxi guy wouldn’t want to travel that side, or just refused citing no reason. Here is how you can hit back on them. A group of 3 advertising professionals (Abhilash Krishnan, Rachna Brar and Jaidev Rupani) from Mumbai have started the ‘Meter Jam’ campaign, where they are requesting people to join the campaign and say “NO” to auto’s and taxi’s on the 12th of August.
It is a joint effort from all mumbaikars and if everyone participates, the auto’s and taxi’s will soon realize that they can’t take us for granted and it is not that only we need them – they need us too.
After banning the auto’s and taxi’s on 12th August – the next step should be to try and stop auto sharing. though that is a good idea, but at times it could prove very dangerous. Auto’s in kandivali east sometimes take upto 6 people sharing. Auto’s plying from the station to Lokhandwala township charge the commuters Rs 10/- per head, even though it is on sharing. If they were to travel this distance by the meter, the meter wouldn’t show more than 1.70, which means the cost is Rs 21.50 (see auto rickshaw fare).
If you wish to support Meter Jam – you can visit their website.

I agree to this, but would like to have guidance on how to stop auto sharing.
I stay at navi mumbai and auto drivers here take 25rs per person while meter costs around 48rs.(from koparkhairane to mahape)
