Fashion street is a cluster of shops (bakada’s) – roughly about 150 shops on MG road in south Mumbai. The name was derived because the shops stock all fashionable T-shirts and clothing. It is a one stop place for all college goers to shop for their everyday wear. Most of the EdHardy, Zara Tshirts you see the college boys and girls wearing are from Fashion street. Fashion street is actually a market which is flooded by the export surplus. It is possible that you might find a button missing or the tag missing because these are export rejected clothing but at the price that they come for, the college students don’t mind buying them.
Fashion street was earlier famous only for clothing, but now you get fake jewellery, shoes and handbags too. If you’re visiting Fashion street, you need to be really good at bargaining as most of the items on offer can be purchased at half the cost the shop keeper quotes.
