Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), previously known as Borivali National Park, is a large protected area on the northern fringes of suburban Mumbai (Borivali). It encompasses an area of 104 square km. It is one of the most visited parks in the world. It also enjoys the distinction of being the largest urban park in the world. According to sources, Sanjay Gandhi national park attracts more than 2 million visitors a day. The park attracts a lot of young college going crowd who hangout in the park in groups.
How to reach Sanjay Gandhi national park?
You can get down at Borivali station (western line) and take an auto to the national park, which is off the Western Express highway. It should not take you more than 10 – 15 minutes.
The national park opens at 7:30AM for tourists and closes at 5:30PM.

Within the national park, you have the 2400 year old Kanheri caves, which is a must see when going to the national park.
What are the entry fee for the national park?
The national park charges only Rs 20 per person. If you wish to go deep in the jungle with a guide, the charge is Rs 50/- (You go entirely at your own risk)
Since it is a national park, remember to carry water and some snacks as there are no shops inside.
