Mumbai’s local trains carry more than 6 million commuters on a daily basis. The least the railways could so is make the ride a comfortable one for the commuters. The new rakes that have been introduced are a better lot, with the much needed blowers (pumping fresh air into the compartment during heavy rush) and better ventilation. Travelling in the old rakes now is a night mare.
But, the railways do nothing to keep the rakes clean and in good condition. You will see a lot of handbills posted everywhere inside the rakes. These handbills are of ‘fake baba’s’ promising you a cure of all your problems in 11 hours flat. More often than not, you will find cockroaches, small mice play in the compartment.
Wish the local trains were more cleaner than what they currently are.
