Girgaum / Girgaon Chowpatty Beach is a famous beach next to Charni Road station on the western line. It is quite well known for its ganpati immersion (Visarjan) during ganesh festival. It is one of the oldest beaches in Mumbai. During the ganpati visarjan, millions of people come on the last day (10th day) to see the immersion. You can see the Queens Necklace (Marine Drive) from this beach, so the view is spectacular.
What to do at Girgaum Chowpatty?
Since it is a beach, people come there in the morning for walk / jog. Many youngster play cricket or football on the beach. Some people come in the evenings for a stroll.
What is famous nearby?
Chowpatty is famous for its eateries. You have plenty of options like Bhel puri, pav bhaji etc. One of the famous milk shake / kulfi joint is Anando Milk Shake and it is located on the beach itself. After visiting the beach, you can also see Taraporewala Aquarium, which is close by.
You can get a good massage in open air on this beach for as low as Rs 50/-.
How to reach Girgaum Chowpatty?
The beach is walking distance from Charni Road station. You can even get down at Marine Lines, and walk down the entire Marine Drive stretch to reach the beach.
